We all want to be transported into another realm, and no other genre does that as well as sci-fi does. It takes us from our comfort zones into something different- a different planet, a different dimension, a different galaxy. We can get off, see how it feels, and walk around in someone else's story. It's a way to be completely transported, and we wouldn't have it any other way. It's why we keep coming back to ur favorite movies and TV shows time after time. We want to climb aboard the Millenium Falcon, and we want to see what it would be like to fly it around the galaxy. We want to hop on the Planet Express and make intergalactic deliveries with Fry and Leela. We want an alien to be born out of our chests. Actually, we would rather avoid that particular reality if we could. We're good without any alien parasites living in our bodies for now, thanks. But we want to know what it's like in that world, and then turn it off and return safely to our planets of origin. This is what science fiction allows us to do, and we're grateful for it.
